Complete your Arts Award with Meraki Art School

Arts Award’s unique qualifications support children and young people to develop as artists and arts leaders. Arts Award is open to anyone aged 25 and under, and embraces all interests and backgrounds. The programme develops skills for success in 21st century life including creativity, leadership, reflective thinking
and communication skills.

Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to the age of 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form – from fashion to digital art, pottery to poetry.

The Arts Award Experience

Through progressing through the five levels, young people get to:

  • Discover the enjoyment of creating and participating in arts activities
  • Experience arts events
  • Develop creative and communication skills that are essential for success in 21st century life
  • Explore the work of artists and craftspeople and gain insights into the professional arts world
  • Gain experience and knowledge to help progress into further education and employment

We’re there for you every step of the way

Many of the activities you work on at Meraki Art School will contribute towards your award portfolio and we will also run selected events for pupils through the year enabling them to participle fully in the arts, visiting cultural organisations and participate in exhibitions.

Young people are supported on their Arts Award journey by our allocated Arts Award advisers, acting as assessor, facilitator and mentors. One of our Meraki Practitioners will provide support and guidance every step of the way!

Understanding the 5 levels of Arts Award

Arts Award has five levels, four of which are on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Arts Award Discover (Introductory Level)

Arts Award Explore takes about 35 hours and is an Entry Level 3 qualification

Bronze Arts Award is a Level 1 qualification on the RQF, which means it’s recognised nationally! It should take you around 60 hours to complete.

Silver Arts Award is a Level 2 qualification on the RQF, which means this award is recognised nationally too! It should take you about 95 hours to complete.

Gold Arts Award is not currently available at Meraki Art School. It is a Level 3 qualification on the RQF and takes about 150 hours to complete. Gold carries 16 UCAS points, which can aid you get into higher education.

Arts Award is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England.
